1. Workshop on technology matters and matters of technology: exploring theories of materiality for technology research

What: A workshop to explore theories of matter and materiality for technology research.

Why: Provides an opportunity to explore new ideas, get feedback for ongoing research, and
engage in lively and critical debate around the ‘materiality turn’ and its usefulness for studying
technology-related phenomena.

2. 2nd DRM workshop about Phenomenology & new work practices


The 2nd workshop on Phenomenology will be held at the University of Paris-Dauphine, in Paris, France, on the 1st of June, 2018. Keywords: new work practices; phenomenology; experiences; embodiment; corporeity; flesh; materiality; space; time; practices

The deadline for the submission of full papers is February the 10th, 2018 via email to: aurore.dandoyping @
1. The abstract (title page, abstract, main text, figures, tables, references, etc.) must be in ONE document created in PDF format.
2.  The minimum length is 1.000 words and the maximum length is 8.000 words.
3.  Use Times New Roman 12-pitch font, 1,5 lines, and 1-inch (2.5 cm) margin all around.
4.  Number all of the pages of the paper.
5.  No changes in the paper title, abstract, authorship, and actual paper can occur after the submission deadline.
6.  Check that the PDF File of your paper prints correctly and ensure that the file is virus-free.
7. Submissions will be done via email to: aurore.dandoyping @
8. Submissions can be in French or in English but presentations will be in English
Acceptances will be communicated to authors by March 24th, 2018.

3. Workshop and panel at the British Museum about Art, Materiality & Representation



We are very pleased to announce the fourth of the RAI’s recent major conferences. As before, it will be

jointly organised by the RAI and the BM’s Department for Africa, Oceania and the Americas, and held in the Clore Centre of the British Museum. We are also very pleased to be joined by the Department of Anthropology at the School of Oriental and African Studies, where a portion of the break-out rooms for the conference panels will be located in the newly refurbished Paul Webley Wing of Senate House.
